I really can't believe that Buffy could be doomed to a life without happiness; it seems to me that the fact she's willing to sacrifice it means it'll come upon her eventually (probably if she stops looking)... Generally I tend to think self-discipline mixed with self-belief has its own rewards. There might need to be a companion piece to this from S7...
