Pen Portrait
For 'the Oval Portrait', setting deliberately unclear, rating PG. More character death... Spike writes.
She shines- No. Insufficient tribute. Any woman can shine.
She glows- No. She is not a mother in waiting.
She effervesces- Spike, for fuck's sake, she's not an Alka-Seltzer.
She bubbles- Still with the fizzy drinks. Drop it. She's more than that. She is hope, she is life, she is all that is good. She is the sun-centre of his world, but she does not burn him to ash as Sol does.
He's trying to avoid the word, but in the end, he writes, "She is effulgent."
Then tears it up, and burns the scraps. Because the wench is dead.
