That's all right; I shouldn't have been looking at tiles. They aren't even that nice and now the silicon seal is done and I've replaced the orchids my bathroom is looking very respectable anyway.
I was liking these, which are basic enough. In Elle Decoration this month (I get it free from the bank, I promise) they've gone all Mediterranean summer living, and there was a really nice house that was all washed-black floor tiles, then a rusticy bathroom that would be mega expensive really, so scratch that, but then more glazedy black tiles in the shower and a warm pale grey on the walls. It looks nice. The only problem is that they have a wet room thing going on with some patterned encaustic tiles rather than anything that looks like a functioning bath or shower. I don't know how you mix in a load of white porcelain with that look.
I also like these which are more stupid and expensiver and I've forgotten how I was thinking you could lay them. But they'd work better with a white suite. Though, obviously, you'd have some sort of off-beat freestanding bath and a sink with a cabinet in a nice colour. Maybe buttercup yellow. With blush pink walls.
Literally, if you give me your dimensions and a budget I will merrily design you a bathroom one random Sunday. Though I know nothing about plumbing. Or designing bathrooms, really. I just like tiles. I would not suggest pastels.
Those are a bit too close to the mistakes on my wall already! (but certainly nicer). The others are alright too, but not for me.
I might take you up on that offer, I don't think there is a lot to design as I don't think it will be a million miles from what it is now because the layout can't change. I love my dark blue walls and the chrome/mirror stuff, it's mainly the grey I need to get rid of. The floor has some issues, so I am not sure tiles would be the best there (depends on whether the floor gets fixed). I am not spending a lot, because I need to find a way to afford a bigger place. It's been 15 years, it's about time!
There is something not quite special enough about them; I agree...
Floor issues are a bit beyond my ken, but I imagine if you were thinking of selling they should really be fixed up. You don't want the surveyor tutting at you! You might need to send me some photos to remind me what it all looks like, but I need something to do when not falling asleep at three o'clock in the afternoon!
Though I will say that the thing that put me off seriously thinking about saving for my bathroom is that all the bits are stupid and add up. But if you don't intend to get too attached to it the standard options all seem to be quite nice these days.
And in general - !! Yes for moving out of the national archives!!
See, the toilet is fairly new. I need a new bath, sink, taps, tiles and floor (I had a new shower fitted yesterday as there other packed up). It doesn't need to be too much. I have a bit of money to play with, but I don't think it is worth getting too excited.
The national archives will come with me! (Don't get too carried away, I probably won't do it. I want a little house and that seems unaffordable)
